  7. OASAS I (Open Architecture Scalable Array System) is software which creates and
  8. manages a fault-tolerant disk array subsystem under the control of SCO UNIX
  9. System V/386. Featuring RAID (Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks) Level 5
  10. architecture, SCSI protocol, and compatibility with EISA, ISA, and Micro
  11. Channel buses, OASAS I enables a disk array of three to seven industry-standard
  12. SCSI disk drives to function as a cost per performance effective fault-tolerant
  13. disk storage subsystem. OASAS I provides protection against the loss of data
  14. and host system interruption in the event of a single disk drive failure.
  15. Depending on the application and the disk array configuration, an OASAS I disk
  16. array configured with a single host adapter may yield performance improvements
  17. up to three times a single disk drive. OASAS I also features bootable and
  18. non-bootable versions, RAID Level 0 support and mixed vendor/model drive
  19. support. OASAS I is transparent to application software.
